Steveston Village
The heritage sites of Steveston Village highlight the many different aspects of this diverse community’s rich history.
Steveston is a historic fishing village located in the southwest corner of Richmond, BC. Settled by Europeans in the second half of the 1880s, early Steveston supported robust canning, fishing and boatbuilding industries. The First Nations hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ speaking peoples were in this region for thousands of years prior to this settlement. Fishing industries drew First Nations and other workers to the area from around the world, especially from China, Japan, and Europe.
Today, the City’s four heritage sites in Steveston offer a wide variety of programming for visitors from near and far. Explore our events, programs, and activities, and immerse yourself in the living history that has shaped this diverse waterfront community.
